Hello, I’m Pingo.

People say I’m a walking bundle of expressions, because whatever I’m feeling tends to show up on my face. When I’m happy I grin; when I’m curious my ears shoot up; when I want a fuss my eyes go soft. Every day brings a different look, and even I don’t always know what the next one will be.

The first time we meet I might be a little shy and want to watch you for a while. But once I know you’re someone I can trust, the real me comes out fast. I love playing, I love going for walks, and most of all I love being near my person, joining in with whatever the day holds.

There’s a scar on my left front paw. It’s from the day I was rescued.

My story

In January 2026 we were called out to a dog caught in a boar snare up in Pinglin. Snares like these are everywhere in winter, and the injuries they cause are heartbreaking. Pingo was frightened and wary—the first rescue attempt failed, and for days afterwards he kept himself hidden. But the team didn’t give up: every morning they drove out from Tamsui, tracking him with a thermal camera, with neighbours pointing the way. On 2026-01-09 they finally found him in a humane trap. Pingo was safe.

His injured foot was treated in the hope of avoiding amputation, and he recovered at The ARK, one of our garden sanctuaries on the north coast. There was a happy twist, too: the same snare-strewn hillside had caught his father, so we rescued him as well and named him Lingo. Father and son came through it together.

Who he is now

The scar remains, but it doesn’t slow him down at all. Today Pingo is healthy and full of energy—running, jumping and playing come easily to him. His favourite thing in the world is a ball: the moment one appears he’s ready, eyes bright and tail going, waiting for you to throw. To him, nothing beats playing with his person.

  • Around two years old, male (neutered)
  • Medium-sized mixed breed
  • Healthy and lively (old scar on the left front paw; movement unaffected)
  • Energy level ★★★★☆

Pingo would suit you if you love an active young dog and can give him plenty of exercise—at least a few walks a day—and the patience to teach him the rhythms of home. He’s very affectionate with people, but he sets clear boundaries with other dogs, so he’d be happiest as the only dog in the household. If there are children at home, older ones suit him best.

He’s currently in Sanzhi, New Taipei, but for the right home we can help arrange transport anywhere in Taiwan.
